Homps to Le Somail: Monday 17 September
We enjoyed the cruise from Homps to Roubia, where we stopped for a late lunch at La Fourchette Folle restaurant. We ate outdoors and finished the meal with some delicious ice-cream.
There were six locks along this stretch of the canal but we are quite experienced in handling these now. We waited an hour at one while the lock-keeper had his lunch!
Unfortunately Chris injured his ankle this morning so he has been hopping around!
After lunch, we continued along the Canal du Midi to the village of Le Somail, where we moored for the night. There are boats moored on both sides of the Canal du Midi here but we don't have a powered site so we have no wifi. One of Le Somail's claims to fame is that Thomas Jefferson once spent a night here and there is a plaque to commemorate the event!
Today was Kristie's birthday and we had a cake to celebrate both hers and Michelle’s birthday, which was on the 14th.
