A Day with Friends

We had a very leisurely morning, enjoying a later start to the day. I went for a walk on my own across the river, discovering some pretty gardens on the roofs of carparks and enjoying the ringing of the bells from several different churches as their sounds blended together. I also had a cafe latte at Starbucks, the only place I have found in Switzerland where I could find my favourite variety of coffee.

At midday the Kremer family met us at our apartment and we went to a local restaurant, Rheinfelder Bierhalle, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch. I had the best rosti ever, with bacon and alp cheese, and Ian had cordon bleu veal - also the best ever, he said!

After lunch, we all went by train to the Uetliberg, a mountain peak outside Zurich. David and Lia had a great time in the adventure playground and then Britta, Frank, the children and I climbed the observation tower where we had a view over the city towards the alps. It was an interesting view but not as spectacular as it would have been on a clearer day.

We had some drinks before returning to the Bahnhof by train. We really enjoyed catching up with Britta and her family again and had some interesting conversations about the differences in life between Germany, Switzerland and Australia.
